When it comes to tiny things, the Outlaw is known to have a virtually unparalleled amount of familiarity. I also realize I just set myself up for every undersized genital joke in the book; nevertheless, before you start forwarding me your penile enlargement spam emails, do me a favor and hear me out.

Standing at a mere 5 foot and 6.5 inches (5’ 7” to those who properly round up), I’ve always been on the shorter end of the height spectrum. Through junior high, high school, college, and my current place of employment, I’ve developed a permanent kink in my neck from interacting with the 98% of the population that seems to tower above me.

Look ma, someone who’s finally shorter than me!

Because of this, I’ve always adhered to the age-old adages such as “big things come in small packages,” “the bigger they are the harder they fall,” and “the pen is mightier than the sword.” Yeah, that last one is kind of an oddity, but unless you are comparing a sword made for a LEGO figure with a pen Godzilla uses to sign his movie deals then one is, more often than not, larger than the other.

Based on the fact I have roughly zero knowledge of Marvel’s smallest hero, how my height insecurities connect to Ant-Man may seem like a stretch even Reed Richards couldn’t achieve.  Regardless, as I climbed into my booster seat for Ant-Man this past weekend, my enthusiasm for the film lay within the whole notion that this was a story about a man – small both in physical and mental strength – who rises to the occasion to eventually prove “it’s the little guy you gotta watch.” That, and I like Paul Rudd.

“Be honest, does this suit make me look ant?”

For all intents and purposes, Ant-Man matched those not so lofty expectations, and it did so with humor, style, heart and creativity. Plus, it had Paul Rudd.

Man crush aside, you can listen to the questionable thoughts of the film from myself and Spunky Destructor by clicking the Wild Wild Podcast #26 link below or above. We actually kept our review of Ant-Man very light on spoilers (if there are any at all) and the conversation short since we both agreed the entire movie was a solidly unique superhero flick which begs to be experienced firsthand.

I swear, we didn’t ruin the film for anyone. (Assuming we had listeners to spoil anything for to begin with.)

In addition to our overview of Marvel’s latest, the Outlaw shares a preview of his time at Walker Stalker Fest held during Comic-Con 2015 along with a pre-preview of our thoughts on the upcoming seasons of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.

And with that, you may let the miniature genitalia jokes commence.
