WILD WILD PODCAST #16: Geek Outlaw & “Spunky D” Discuss the Holiday Films & TV Shows that Make them Jolly

MAIN Holiday BIG 740

When you know it’s time to change your cue cards.

Welcome to the WILD WILD PODCAST #16

Join co-host “Spunky D” and I as we drink Christmas flavored cream from a carton, open gifts, and discuss the holiday films and television specials topping our yuletide list.

(***NOTE: While the films and shows we chat about range from 11 to 27 years old, we still play some HOLIDAY SPOILER songs as a warning for your enjoyment.)

For a guy who was born and raised as part of the Kosher Kamp, I constantly surprise myself each passing year with just how much I love the Christmas holiday. Be it decorating the shoebox-sized dwelling I call home, watching heart-warmingly goofy movies like The Santa Clause, or belting out the twang-filled country version of “Winter Wonderland,” I sometimes wonder if that was even me at my Bar Mitzvah several years ago reciting Hebrew from 2-ton scrolls that rivaled the length of Santa’s naughty & nice list.

With “Spunky D” (which my laziness now requires I refer to her as) and I celebrating our first-ever holiday season as part of the Wild Wild Podcast, I figured what better subject matter is there to discuss this time of year than the holiday media we geek out on. Spunky and I shared our favorite holiday movies and watched each other’s choice of flicks the night prior to recording. Needless to say, at first glance our choices couldn’t be more polar opposites than the North and South Poles. Alas, Ms. Destructor found a way to connect them in an oddly appropriate way. Since I’m also a giver, I thought it would be fun to do an on-air gift exchange to see how well we really know what makes the other nerd tick.

Outside of an endless supply of chocolate peanut butter candy, this gift from Spunky D is quite the 1-2 punch.

Steadfast and faithful (or just plain glutton for punishment) fellow Outlaw Jason Kryston also participated in the gift-giving by sending the crew of the Wild Wild Podcast it’s first ever fan holiday gift! (Which we opened as we recorded the show.)

Jason Kryston knows the way to the Outlaw’s heart. Via a mixture of pure sugar and caffeine wrapped in a Ghostbusters label.

So before I lull you all to sleep to Cha-Cha with your sugarplums, let me present to you the first ever Wild Wild Holiday Podcast and the final jam-packed show of 2014. Here’s wishing all my fellow Outlaws a very Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Be safe and be sure to get plenty of rest because the Geek Outlaw is going to geek out in 2015 like it’s 1999! Errr…
